I thought this was a pretty good article for those buying a sofa or sofas for their first home or apartment. Ranging from budget under $1,000 to high-end sofas in the low thousands and up.
So I got the water bill from the previous month of water use and I’m starting to think I need to revise my water usage to cuts costs. I found that the following tips are pretty doable and seem like they would make a big difference. When waiting for the water to heat up before taking a shower, place a bucket under the faucet to catch the colder water. You can use this for cleaning, pets and other watering. When you’re doing laundry or running the dishwasher, make sure it is a full load. Toilet leaks are hard to notice, but check the rubber seal (typically red) that lifts up to let in water when you flush the toilet. If this is warped or not sealing completing your toilet will continue to run causing your water bill to be very high.

Compost Cab - Composting Made Easy!
Although composting is great for the environment, it is still a smelly dirty mess. What is a Compost Cab? Basically it is compost that does not smell! This new service is about to launch in the Washington D.C. area making “reduce, reuse, and recycle” easier!
Here is what they do
1. Compost Cab provides you with your own bin.
2. You fill the bin with trash and garbage: food, scraps, etc.
3. Compost Cab will pick up the bin once per week, and will add a new liner in every time
4. They then turn your organic trash into fertile soil
5. The last step is up to you! Keep fertile soil for yourself, or Compost Cab can donate it for you to a local, non-profit urban farmer who grows food for our community.
These biodegradable trash bags have the same strength and price as any regular trash bag. The only difference is, these are biodegradable and environment friendly. How did they do it? They combine their organic additive with plastic and it bonds organic nutrients to the plastic’s molecular structure. By adding these nutrients, this will now allow the plastic to be eaten by microbes (an organism living in mainly water, soil, and landfills that is too small to be seen with the naked eye such as fungi, archaea, protists or bacteria). The microbes are now attracted to the plastic and are longer repelled away. These bags break down into organic matter such as water, humus, methane, and carbon dioxide. There’s no need to add more plastic to our environment, check out the Green Genius biodegradable trash bags.

Ceiling fans help maintain a constant temperature in the room to prevent the AC (or heater) from working too hard, thereby saving energy. Operating a ceiling fan requires no more electricity than a 100 watt bulb but can shave up to 40% off your energy bill when used consistently. I see why ceiling fans are so popular, for a small price you almost cut your bills in half good stuff from apartmenttherapy.com.
